Fire Safety

Our class got a visit from the Lincoln Firefighters this morning! They talked to us about fire safety. They showed us what they looked like in their firefighter gear so that we won't be afraid if fire fighters ever have to come to our house. They taught us never to hide from a fire fighter. They also showed us their fire engine. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot!

This week, we also learned that if fire is on our clothes, we stop, drop and roll. If there is a fire in our house or school, we have to get out. We practiced crawling low in smoke. We also practiced a fire drill.

Now would be a great time for each family to talk about fire safety at home. The Lincoln Fire Department told us that it is very important for each family to have a fire drill and practice it. Each member of your family (including children) needs to know how to get out of the house, and what your family meeting place outside is.
