Here are some songs that we sing at school that your child may enjoy singing at home.

As November begins, we will be learning new songs. I will post them as we learn them. Have fun!

Fire Safety

Our class got a visit from the Lincoln Firefighters this morning! They talked to us about fire safety. They showed us what they looked like in their firefighter gear so that we won't be afraid if fire fighters ever have to come to our house. They taught us never to hide from a fire fighter. They also showed us their fire engine. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot!

This week, we also learned that if fire is on our clothes, we stop, drop and roll. If there is a fire in our house or school, we have to get out. We practiced crawling low in smoke. We also practiced a fire drill.

Now would be a great time for each family to talk about fire safety at home. The Lincoln Fire Department told us that it is very important for each family to have a fire drill and practice it. Each member of your family (including children) needs to know how to get out of the house, and what your family meeting place outside is. For more tips on how to have a family fire drill, refer to the handout passed out earlier this week at school.

More Pumpkins!

We finished up talking about pumpkins this week. Today we cut open a pumpkin to see what it looked like on the inside. We saw seeds and strings, and made pictures of what it looked like. We also tasted some pumpkins seeds, and our class really liked them.

Next week we will being learning about Fire Safety.

Today we continued talking about pumpkins. We even tasted some pumpkin pie and pumpkin ice cream. We made a graph about what we liked and didn't like. Here are some more pictures from our Pumpkin Patch field trip.

Pumpkin Patch

We had a great time at the Pumpkin Patch on Tuesday! The weather was just perfect, and we loved being outside. When we got there, we had orange cookies for a snack. Then we all played on the slide and in the hay maze together. Next we took a walk in the patch to see where pumpkins grow. We saw how pumpkins start as a blossoms. We saw all different sizes and colors of pumpkins. After our walk in the patch, we moved onto our favorite part: picking out pumpkins to take home! We had a great morning. Thank you to everyone who drove and helped chaperone our trip!

Reminders for next week: Tuesday is the Field trip to Black Bart's Pumpkin Patch. Please have your child at school by 8:45. He or she needs: $1, a carseat, and his or her green field trip t-shirt.

Also, Friday is our Fall Carnival. Please join us for games, prizes, a cake walk, caramel apples, popcorn, face painting, and lots of fun! See you there!
